This Sunday evening, come and unwind as local bands showcase their talents. Formerly Canned Acoustica, the popular Unplugged series challenges local bands to re-imagine and rearrange their songs using only acoustic instruments; resulting in unique, intimate and soulful performance. Check it out when indie band Buxton takes the stage at Discovery Green on May 19th, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Unplugged at Discovery Green hosts the best musical acts in Houston for Sunday concerts at the park’s main stage. Here, you’ll hear the best of Houston’s local talent, including bands and solo artists that span genres for an experience that everyone will enjoy.
Houston-based outfit Buxton emerged in the late 2000s, developing an intelligent fusion of folk, rock, and psych-toned Americana that, after a pair of well-received indie releases, found a home on New West Records' roster in 2012. Their textural, dusty sound and strong songwriting earned acclaim and a more widespread audience on increasingly ambitious later releases like 2015's Half a Native and 2018's Stay Out Late.
Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics are welcome at Unplugged; food, beer and wine are available for purchase on site from The Grove. No glass containers or outside alcoholic beverages are allowed. This event is part of the XFINITY Entertainment Series at Discovery Green.
All ages will enjoy these intimate and unique performances. Admission is free, but you can also make a small donation to support Discovery Green’s free music programs. For more information about the series, visit www.discoverygreen.com.
