Discovery Green Conservancy will present the bold and imaginative exhibition, The Shape of Things: Michael Craig-Martin at Discovery Green. The show comprises a series of six monumental sculptures by the renowned British artist, whose colorful, oversized steel forms offer a playful perspective of everyday objects and challenge our perception of space, appearing like line drawings in the air.
This is the first exhibition of Craig-Martin’s sculptures to be seen in Texas, and only the second venue in the United States. Six sculptures ranging from 8 to 12 feet high, depicting everyday objects such as an umbrella, a wheelbarrow, a light bulb, and a shoe can be seen. These larger than life works are playful and evocatively simple. Visitors can walk around the pieces at Discovery Green, observing these extraordinary sculptures in a new context.
The works will be showcased around Discovery Green’s Kinder Lake and will be on view during park hours through November 3rd.
The Shape of Things: Michael Craig-Martin at Discovery Green is presented in partnership with Gagosian. The exhibition is part of the Discovery Green Conservancy’s Public Art Program which has, over the past 10 years, enriched visitor experience with numerous temporary exhibitions as well as several signature permanent pieces.
Visitors are invited to share their experiences using the hashtags #MichaelCraigMartin and #DiscoveryGreen. Admission is free, so don’t miss out!
