The Astros Foundation welcomes four-time Grammy Award winner Lionel Richie to Minute Maid Park for a spectacular evening on Friday, January 17th at 5:30 pm for the 5th annual Diamond Dreams Gala presented by Chevron. Don’t miss this living legend live in concert on Friday night!
The Astros Foundation is the official team charity of the Houston Astros. The Astros Foundation seeks to harness the passion of baseball fans to support youth baseball and softball programs, the recognition/honor of our nation's military, childhood cancer awareness and efforts to reduce homelessness. The foundation’s cornerstone initiatives include the Community Leaders program, the Astros MLB Youth Academy and the Astros RBI Program.
Held on the field at Minute Maid Park, the Diamond Dreams Gala features first-class entertainment, as well as Astros players and legends. The event benefits the Astros Foundation and New Hope Housing, an organization combatting homelessness by providing housing and support services for those in need. New Hope Housing provides life-stabilizing, affordable, permanent housing with support services for people who live on very limited incomes. New Hope's vision is to be an enduring institution serving Houston's most vulnerable citizens.
Singer-songwriter Lionel Richie was a founding member of the Commodores, a top R&B act of the 1970s, before finding success as a solo artist with the No. 1 single "Truly," from his self-titled debut album. More hits soon followed, including "Hello" and "Dancing on the Ceiling." In 1985, he co-wrote the famine relief song "We Are the World" with Michael Jackson. Richie's later albums include Louder than Words (1996) and Coming Home (2006). He enjoyed renewed chart success with his 2012 country album, Tuskegee, and was named a judge for the 2018 reboot of American Idol.
A limited number of concert tickets are available. Concert only ticket holders will view the Lionel Richie performance from the lower level of Minute Maid Park. Cash bar and concessions will be available for purchase. Concert only ticket holders will not be able to access the field and gala seating area.
